Missing from their menu for nearly two years Taco Bell is bringing back the Mexican Pizza
This menu favorite will permanently return beginning May 19, the chain confirmed Monday.
Taco Bell eliminated the pizza in November 2020 as part of a streamlining and simplifying of its menu choices during the height of the pandemic that they say helped them shed complexities and costs.
The Mexican Pizza consists of a tortilla shell filled with either beans, ground beef, pizza sauce, and is topped with another tortilla shell that’s smothered with more sauce, cheese, and chopped tomatoes. This menu favorite has been around since 1985.
Everyone was shocked and outraged when Taco Bell first removed this from their menu. I guess it was really only a matter of time before they would bring this back.
In its return Taco Bell says they have improved the item’s packaging, to eliminate some of their previously excessive waste. They’ve reported that disposal of the pizza’s packaging amounted to more than 7 million pounds of paperboard per year. Their intentions are to leave a lighter footprint on the environment and be more cost-efficient. So, we’ll just have to wait and see what the new packaging will look like.
Your new Mexican Pizza will be priced at $4.49 and we’ll have to see what combo prices will be as they have not yet been revealed.
Mark your calendars May 19th will be a happy day!
