XFL 2020 News, Rosters and Schedule

Why do we have the XFL? For the love of football! It’s just that simple.

To further that sentiment, there is no such thing as too much football!

The XFL's new season is about to kick off this weekend with two games on Saturday, Feb. 8th, and two more on Sunday, Feb. 9th, as the XFL tries again to bring quality football to fans everywhere. I only hope they’ll be more successful than the Alliance of American Football League that failed to finish their own inaugural season a year ago.

The XFL is hailed as an extra or alternative football league, and also as a developmental league that could see players move on to the NFL after the conclusion of their season.

The XFL will feature two games per day both playing on Saturdays and Sundays. Concluding after 10 weeks of competition and followed with 1 weekend of playoffs, and a Championship game immediately thereafter.

Only time will tell if this new league will be successful. I am hoping that it will. However the lack of star power / big name players may make it more challenging.

This new XFL season begins today and runs for the next twelve weeks without a break to the finish. It’s all fast paced and action packed. It’s main focus is to be fans first, and fans will be able to have input.

FFilms https://ffilms.org/ is down. This site has been taken down and has been down for several months now. It is not coming back. But you don’t need to worry, because you can still get its content, and it’s still free.

What most people don’t realize is that everything you found on FFilms is really on https://ok.ru/video

This is a Russian hosted website, and it has everything that was on FFilms. The https://ok.ru/video website is not as pretty, or as well organized as FFilms, with films by genre and by decade etc. but you can still find everything that you had before. With this site I recommend searching by movie title, movie title and year, or by looking up actors names.

Don’t be put off by okru being a Russian website. It has an English option. The site looks to be something like a YouTube knock-off, but that’s ok by me. The best thing about this website is that it has a mobile version. Sign up and create an account and you can watch movies on your phone or you can even cast from your phone to a big screen tv. This is a great idea if you’re visiting someone and want to watch something, you can easily pull it up on your phone and share it with others.

Everyone loves to stream movies and the best of the older movies will be found through the above okru link. I highly recommend bookmarking this site for future reference.

* For sure, as great as FFilms was and okru is with older movies, they are not your best source to find the latest releases.

How to Get Around Newspaper Paywalls in 2020 - Guaranteed!

Getting around the ever annoying paywall blocks on the WSJ, Business Insider, NYT, Washington Post, and everything else is much easier than you probably ever thought it could be. In this short post I will tell you how to do it. A guaranteed way to work!

These days many people get their news via news aggregators, and it’s unrealistic to think everyone is going to be able or even want to bother subscribing to so many news sources. But, for certain a paywall is in place to prevent anyone but paid users from accessing specific content, and so far, there are only two types of paywall blocks. The first is what is called a soft block, where you’re able to see part of an article before you see a popup prompt paywall block, and the hard block where the block pops up immediately.

Some sites offer a few articles per month for free before you are prompted to subscribe. With these sites the free article limit can normally be bypassed by removing cookies for the site. Simply delete your browser cookies. Another super easy way to circumvent this paywall block is to view these articles through incognito mode. Understand, that if the website lets you view a limited number of articles, and then blocks access with a paywall, they’re doing so by storing cookies that track how many articles you have viewed.

In fact, there are a number of tedious time consuming ways to get around both of these blocks, but who really wants to go through all the hassle just to be able to read an article, my guess is nobody.

Nearly all web browsers are Chromium based, and with that, you simply need to add either Instapaper or Pocket extensions from the Chrome web store to your browser. Make sure it is on and active.

Whenever you click on an article that has a paywall, your computer will see the article before the paywall popup, and keep it in its cache. Just close the article or tab and then reload the same article again only this time quickly click on the Instapaper or Pocket extension icon immediately. The article will then be able to be read through those apps as they store all of the articles you save.

That’s it. It works. Those, read it later apps kick ass.

Cannonball 1976 - Review

In this film, Cannonball is the nickname of Coy Buckman our protagonist in this fun flick starring David Carradine. This is David Carradine’s second collaboration with director Paul Bartel, following their cult-classic Death Race 2000. The plan for this film was to have a more light-hearted version of the road-race formula. With that in mind they more than succeeded here with this action film as it clearly has the mass appeal they desired.

The movie gets billed as an action/comedy/drama, unfortunately the comedy aspect is nowhere to be found here, but don’t let that put you off. The film is a road-race with a mix of characters, and climaxes with a massive multi car crash disaster. Although they miss on the comedy the film is very good. The story develops in a straight ahead manner, and delivers in the few surprises that keep you at the edge of your seat.

Coy “Cannonball” runs a good part of this race with his girlfriend/parole officer, Linda (Veronica Hamel). They get help from Cannonball’s best friend and mechanic, Zippo who runs in a matching Trans Am as a decoy with the hope of giving Cannonball a winning edge. Towards the end of the race Coy insists Linda proceed with his decoy buddy Hippo.

His brother Bennie has other plans and looks to cash in, while Cannonball’s arch-enemy, Cade Redman looks to put Cannonball out of the race completely! So, buckle up for a wild ride here! There's plenty of twists and turns with the cast as they race for the prize from L.A. to New York.

This film is an entertaining cross-country road-race romp. It is action packed and you'll be surprised who wins the $100,000 prize in the end. We even get treated to some surprising cameos that alone make this movie worth watching.

How to enable Global Media Controls play/pause button in Chrome

Google Chrome’s new media playback controls are part of the stable version of Chrome 77 and higher but are but disabled by default. Here is how you can enable the button.

The below screen shot will the be displayed and just select enabled from the drop down box to the right.

After you've done that relaunch the browser, and you’ll see a tiny play button next to the left of your personal icon button to the right of the url field. The new feature will allow you to skip forward or back, pause, or play a file in a tab.

*FYI - If you do not see the media control icon it's because there are no open tabs with media. To see this icon there must be a tab with media to play.

The more tabs with media to play will show up in a drop down list once you've enabled this feature. This is a way to quickly identify where unwanted noise may be coming from if you should happen to have many tabs open, and this option will make it quick and easy to stop media playing that you don't want to hear.

There you have it, and good luck, Google may change how it works or remove it in the future. However, I believe Google will enable the Play/Pause button for everyone in future versions of Chrome by default, but we'll see.
