Looking back on the year, these were some of the music highlights that really stuck with me. If you happened to miss any of them, all of these albums are easy to find in full on YouTube. Sure, there were plenty of other releases—especially the big sellers everyone already knows about. You can’t escape those. They’re everywhere, in every department store, in every format… blah.
If you’re in the mood to try something a little different, I’d recommend checking these out:
Pictoria Vark – Nothing Sticks
Dreamy, slightly off-kilter indie pop with sharp lyrics and a cool, understated delivery. Intimate but clever, and easy to get lost in.
Brian Eno & Beatie Wolfe – Luminal
Atmospheric and thoughtful, blending Eno’s ambient soundscapes with Wolfe’s experimental songwriting. It’s calm, immersive, and more about mood than hooks.
Aly & AJ – Silver Deliverer
A mature, roots-leaning pop record with strong melodies and a warm, almost Laurel Canyon vibe. Confident songwriting without trying too hard.
Laufey – A Matter of Time
Soft, jazzy, and romantic, mixing classic songwriting influences with a modern touch. Gentle, melodic, and perfect for late-night listening.
Wolf Alice – The Clearing
A bold, emotional mix of alternative rock and pop, shifting between loud and quiet with ease. Big choruses, strong moods, and plenty of attitude.
Alice Cooper – The Revenge of Alice Cooper
Classic shock rock energy with a modern edge. Theatrics, heavy riffs, and that unmistakable Alice Cooper snarl all intact.
Garbage – Let All That We Imagine Be the Light
Dark, polished alternative rock with sharp lyrics and a cinematic feel. Shirley Manson sounds as commanding as ever, blending menace and melody.
Here's hoping we'll find more gems in the new year ahead in 2026!
