Looking back on the year that was 2017 and wondering what the best of the best was, here's a list of the best selling books of the year by actual sales through the world's biggest book seller.
If you were to do a search, you'd discover that everyone has a best selling list, and if you've seen a few you have undoubtedly noticed that they are not all the same. One of the most respected and highly referenced is the NY Times best sellers list, and then there is the LA Times, Wall Street Journal and then the online Book Sellers Barnes & Noble, and of course Amazon. And all of these lists will be different...WTH you say??
The truth is that most of these lists are based loosely on sales figures that are collected by Nielsen BookScan, and their figures represent something in the area of 75%-85% of actual sales. So, there is no definitive actual best seller list, you simply get what others are speculating about.
Realizing that all of these lists are speculative and not at all accurate, I feel a little bit more confident with the lists that Amazon publishes. They are the biggest online seller of books in all formats and there is not even a close second.
